We collect what is needed to operate your account and cases. Your image and PDF evidence stays outside the AI assistant context, and the Android app does not request contacts, SMS, call logs or broad photo access.
Our privacy commitment
NGuardian deals with information that can be personal, financial and sensitive. We design the service to limit collection, separate private evidence from AI conversations, restrict access by customer and case, and keep a record of important case actions.
This notice applies to the NGuardian Android app, the website at nguardian.opay.help and supporting case services. It should be read together with our Terms.
Information we collect
The information collected depends on the service you choose:
- Account information: Nigerian mobile number, profile name, optional email, profile image and notification preferences.
- Loan relief information: lender, loan references, approved and disbursed amounts, dates, outstanding principal, interest, fees, penalties, hardship information and proposed repayment plan.
- Complaint information: lender, reported amount, incident dates, violation categories, descriptions and related references.
- Case activity: case status, offers, decisions, lender confirmations, repayment submissions and support notes.
- Conversations: messages you send to the NGuardian AI legal information assistant and the responses generated for you.
- Evidence: files you deliberately select, plus necessary file metadata such as type, size and upload status.
- Technical information: security events, app version, error information and an Android installation identifier used for optional push delivery.
What the app does not access
NGuardian does not request access to your contacts, SMS, call logs, camera, precise location or gallery-wide storage. When you add evidence, Android’s system Photo Picker or Document Picker lets you choose specific files without granting broad access to everything on your device.
Notification permission is optional. If you decline it, case notifications remain available inside the app when it refreshes.
How information is used
We use information to authenticate your account; receive, review and manage cases; prepare settlement proposals; record complaint details; present offers and case histories; support repayment confirmation; answer AI Help messages; deliver notifications; prevent abuse; troubleshoot errors; and meet applicable legal obligations.
We do not use your evidence to advertise unrelated products or sell customer profiles to data brokers.
AI assistant boundary
The AI legal information assistant receives structured case text, summaries and conversation messages only. It never receives your uploaded images or PDF evidence.
AI assistant responses may be generated by an external model provider operating under NGuardian’s instructions. We limit the information sent to what is necessary for the conversation and do not treat an AI response as a final case decision.
Storage and security
Account, case and notification records are stored in a controlled database. Evidence is stored in a private object store; the evidence bucket is not public, and file access requires application authorisation and time-limited signed requests.
We use access controls, case ownership checks, transport protection, audit records and operational monitoring. No service can promise absolute security, so you should also protect your device and verification codes.
Retention and deletion
You can request permanent account deletion in the Android app under Account → Delete account, or without reinstalling the app through our account deletion page. External requests require verification of account ownership before we act.
After a verified request is accepted, account access and registered push delivery are disabled. Our deletion process removes your profile, open and closed cases, settlement and repayment records, conversation messages and summaries, AI processing records, uploaded evidence and avatars, notifications, sessions and sign-in challenges from our active systems. This normally completes after about one day because we allow existing uploads to expire and verify file removal a second time. Temporary failures are retried; contact service@nguardian.opay.help with your request reference if you need help.
Restricted disaster-recovery backups and a limited deletion ledger may retain copies or an internal account identifier for a defined recovery period before scheduled expiry. They are isolated from the active service and are not used for other purposes. Contact service@nguardian.opay.help for the current retention period that applies to your request. Information already held independently by your lender or an authority is outside NGuardian’s deletion process. Deletion does not cancel any debt or repayment obligation. Save any records you need before requesting deletion.
Your choices and rights
Depending on applicable Nigerian data protection law, you may be able to ask for access to personal data, correction of inaccurate information, information about processing, withdrawal of consent where consent is the basis, restriction or objection, deletion in appropriate circumstances, or review of a concern.
To delete your account, use our account deletion page. For other privacy requests, use Contact Us or email service@nguardian.opay.help. We may need to verify the phone number or account connected to the request before disclosing or changing information. You can also learn about privacy rights from the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Children
NGuardian is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly create customer accounts for children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, use Contact Us so the situation can be reviewed.
Updates and questions
We may update this notice as the product, security practices or applicable requirements change. Material updates will be communicated through the app or another appropriate channel.
For a privacy question or request, visit Contact Us or email service@nguardian.opay.help. Please never include your one-time verification code or account credentials in a support message.
